Dual-purpose: Precision chop loader wagon and Silage wagon
The Schuitemaker Rapide is the only real dual-purpose precision chop loader wagon and silage wagon on the market. That means that the Rapide precision chop loader wagon is not only suitable for the gathering and cutting of all sorts of grass but also for the transport of heavy silage products during the harvesting of maize. Because the trailing pick-up folds away against the bottom of the wagon a maximum ground clearance is created which is a must when harvesting on wet ground. The robust, compact construction together with a galvanized and coated body makes the box strong, solid and long lasting. The compact construction and the placing of the tandem or tridem give the Rapide dual-purpose wagon an optimum weight distribution and therefore the tractor always has sufficient pressure on the rear wheels.
Loading: Rotor and cleaners
The star shaped rotor is 2 meters in width for all models. The rotor tines are bent and have a width of 20mm. This ensures that even under the most difficult circumstances all types of grass are perfectly cut and loaded. The form and placing of the cleaners, the wide rotor channel and the lowered platform ensure that the grass is easily transported into the wagon. The Rapide 1000 series has a more powerful rotor and gear drive so that an even higher capacity can be achieved.
High compression, high capacity
The Schuitemaker Rapide is known for its high compression of the load, the highest of all dual-purpose wagons and pick-up wagons. This high compression is achieved because the grass is stowed along the slanted RapidStream guiding plate. This, combined with the specially constructed rotor with cleaners ensures that the grass can be compressed in the wagon. Each wagon can therefore carry more grass.
Superior cutting quality
The cutting system of the Rapide precision chop loader wagon has a maximum of 43 knives and guarantees a cutting length of 44 millimeters for all the grass in the wagon. The standard three sectional knife bar is made of Hardox steel, a material that is known for its high resistance to wear. The grass is cut using the scissor principle and the knives are held under pressure hydraulically. For each grass sort, the pressure on the knives can be adjusted from the control box so that less pressure can be used for light grass and thus unnecessary wear on the knives can be avoided. Whenever the knives move from their working position a signal is given on the control box. Unlike curved and toothed knives, the knives from Schuitemaker are sharpened on both sides. This gives the advantage that by wear on the knife the situation remains the same and the knife continues to cut normally. All the above not only give an outstanding cutting quality but also a longer life for the knives.
Trailing pick-up: best ground following and picking up ability
The best ground following is achieved with the trailing pick-up ensuring that the pick-up picks up perfectly under all circumstances. The pick-up runs on a tandem wheel axle and so a steady run is achieved. Where a pick-up placed in front of the wagon will occasionally bite into the ground if the surface is uneven, the trailed pick-up runs over it smoothly and avoids obstacles. This avoids unnecessary wear on the pick-up. Another advantage of a trailing pickup is that the wagon is built in a compacter form but with the same capacity.
Ease of use
The Schuitemaker Rapide is a very user friendly dual-purpose wagon.
- The control box, with two large joysticks and a display, is clear and compact: moving quickly from loading to unloading is no problem.
- The knife sensor gives a signal when the knives come out of the loading channel.
- The power take off (PTO) shaft support makes easy connection and disconnection possible.
- The oil hoses are color coded for recognition and the oil hose rack is well ordered which makes connecting simple.
- The knives are easily reachable and therefore can be exchanged or reversed quickly; crawling under the wagon is not necessary. A plus point is the knife holders for the spare knives which are situated on both sides of the machine.
Compact form
Due to its compact form the Rapide is extremely maneuverable and is thus suitable for the farm and smaller fields. Despite the short, compact form the Rapide dual-purpose wagon has a large capacity; from 26m3 to 56m3. The Rapide has a standard outside width of 2.55m and an inside width of 2.40m
Maintenance friendly
- Changing the pick-up teeth is simple and done via the open back of the pick-up.
- There are few greasing points so that grease smearing is straightforward and can be performed quickly.
- The shear bolt for the gear drive of the pick-up is very easy to reach. If this breaks it can easily be replaced and work can be resumed quickly.
- Because the oil bath gearboxes are sealed off they require very little maintenance.
- The driving chains for the beaters are automatically held under tension so that during the season no control is necessary.
Control box
The control box is easy to use thanks to the simple joystick controls. Due to this, the wagon and the swath can be easily seen during the control of the Rapide. The position of the rear door is registered on the control box via a corner sensor. In addition, the control box is protected from erroneous operation of the deck chains thus preventing damage. In addition, automatic functions can be set in the control box; the opening of the rear door for example. The electronic control is prepared for an ISO-bus.
RapidStream front panel
The optional hydraulically operated RapidStream front panel ensures a better grass flow in the normal position and in the open position it is possible to drive behind the harvester. Using the optional hydraulic controls, the RapidStream front panel can be controlled from the control box.
Empties very quickly
In independent tests (Profi, 10-2011) the Rapide dual-purpose wagon achieved an unloading speed of 23 meters per minute. The optimum oil flow (¾” thick oil hoses, almost no resistance and few couplings) ensures a powerful hydraulic movement of the deck chains. The four deck chains have a total pulling strength of 72 tons. The rear door has a very wide unloading angle which means that the grass or crop can be unloaded without problems. With this combination of power and speed, all types of grass or crop can be unloaded easily and quickly.
Low fuel consumption
The power requirement is reduced by the RapidStream front panel which ensures that the grass is guided perfectly into the wagon. In addition, the floor of the wagon is tilted upwards at the front which means that there is less resistance for the stream of grass. Other points that play a part in reducing the necessary power are the wider rotor teeth and the form of the cleaners. The driven RapidFlow intake roller ensures an even stream of grass.
Tandem - tridem
The extremely stable, steered tandem makes the wagon an ideal dual-purpose wagon. The hydraulic forced steering is integrated into the draw bar which gives very good ground clearance; in addition, the steering mechanism is protected. Optionally the chassis can be delivered with hydraulic suspension. The Rapide can be delivered with 2 or 3 axles supplied with the heavy 18, 24 or 30 tons following or forced steering pendulum tandems. The Rapide 3 axles are fitted with a 40 ton hydraulic suspension tridem, 2 steering axles and the front axle is liftable.
Scraper floor
The scraper floor of the Rapide is the strongest of its sort thanks to the choice of materials and its tube profile. The four deck chains have a total pulling strength of 72 tons. Since the four deck chains are pre-stretched they require almost no further tensioning. They are always driven on both sides of the wagons.
